There, you will be able to check bus schedules and buy tickets. Remember that you’re looking for a bus to Oświęcim. Pay attention to the bus stops as not all bus companies stop next to the museum. If you don’t want to be dropped off on the other side of the town, make sure to ask for a bus to Więźniów Oświęcimia Street or the Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial.

Train

Although it is possible to get to Auschwitz by train, it is not the most recommended option. Oświęcim train station is situated some 2 km from Auschwitz Birkenau Concentration Camp, which means you have an extra bit to travel once you get to Oświęcim. You can of course walk if you have time or take a local bus to cover the distance, but this will extend your journey.

How long is the journey from Krakow to Auschwitz?

On average, the journey takes between 1 and 2 hours. A car ride will be the fastest, while a bus trip may take between 1h 20min to 1h 40min. Getting to Auschwitz by train can take 2 hours and sometimes even more because you have to take into account the additional distance between the Oświęcim train station and the Auschwitz Museum.

How much does it cost to go to Auschwitz from Krakow?

The cost of your trip from Krakow to Auschwitz and Birkenau will depend on the method of transport. You can pay as little as 12 PLN for one-way tickets when opting for a bus. Train tickets can cost from 15 PLN, but add a few more zlotys if you’re planning to take a local bus from the station.

Just keep in mind that individuals can visit Auschwitz only at specified times, usually in the afternoon.
