Krakow City Walk

Guided by our guide, you will not be walking around aimlessly. You will be able to explore the history of Krakow and see all the incredible places in the town. The beautiful Jewish district Kazimierz is a must-see place for anybody interested in Jewish culture and looking for an authentic experience. The other iconic city district of Krakow is the Old Town. It is a favorite of many tourists, from all around the world. Many people from Poland travel to Krakow to see Old Town, too! If you take one of our city walk tours, you will get to see why these districts are loved so much. There is a lot of history to experience in Krakow. Our guide will make sure that you will appreciate the fine details of the history and culture you get to experience.

Time-wise, there are many options available. Some of the Krakow tours take a few hours and can be combined with something else, like one of the other Krakow tours. Other tours are best seen as entire-day adventures, where most of your day will be spent on the trip. For those wanting to get the most out of their few days in Krakow, the best and biggest option are our popular Krakow 3 Day Package and Krakow 4 Day Package. These super packages cover everything you want, including a trip outside of Krakow to Wieliczka Salt Mine. The 4-day version also includes an Auschwitz-Birkenau tour. If you choose one of these Krakow tours, you will be taken care of from the moment you land in Krakow until the end of your vacation in Poland. These packages include a hotel stay at Angel House Premium B&B. They are the ultimate Krakow experience available!

Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum Tours

There is much to say about Auschwitz-Birkenau. To be entirely honest, this little blurb is too small to respectfully go into the details this place deserves. This is why we recommend taking a look at our blog, where we talk about the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in greater detail. Here, we will focus on the absolute minimum you should know before deciding to book a tour.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum is a heritage site memorializing one of the greatest tragedies in the history of humankind. Because of this, the trip will certainly be emotionally draining. To prepare you for the harrowing experience, we make sure to provide each trip with supplemental materials that explain the cultural and historical context of what you are going to see, in English. This can include a movie you are free to see during the transport to Auschwitz.

Auschwitz-Birkenau is located within a car ride from Krakow, and you will not have to purchase a ticket on your own if you use our services. The tour is English-friendly. Of course, a return trip to Krakow is also involved in all these tours.

Due to their location, a combo of Auschwitz & Salt Mine One Day guided tour is very popular. This way, you get to see both the Wieliczka Salt Mine museum and Auswitch-Birkenau museum while still being optimal about how you spend your time. Since you are leaving the city anyway to visit either of them, it saves you time to see them together.

Day Tours from Krakow

Krakow is less than a few hours away from many awesome adventures just waiting for you to come and grab them! Since we love this region, we make sure to highlight some of the coolest available options in the neighborhood. Ojcow National Park will let you enjoy beautiful mountains covered in interesting sightseeing spots! Zywiec Beer Museum Tour is great for fans of beer, while those preferring wine should take a look at the Wine Tasting Tour. The Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour is also available as a stand-alone tour, so if you do not want to take the combo-package with the Auschwitz camp, you do not have to! For something entirely different, take a look at Energylandia Amusement Park Tour. Energylandia is the biggest amusement park in Poland, and according to many, the best one! A fantastic choice for families looking for a way to give the children an unforgettable experience. Do not worry – adults love it too!

Krakow Shuttle - first class service We used this company for transfers and tours while on a recent trip to Krakow. We went on the full day trip to Auschwitz/Birkenau and the Salt Mines. 11 hours in total. Well organised and everything ran like clockwork. Two days later we used them to go to Zakopane. Again, great service, excellent timings and comfortable coaches and minibuses. I really have no complaints. They are competitively priced too.

FAQ

Here you can find answers for frequently asked questions.

Krakow is a very pleasant city, full of interesting places to see! There are four districts especially worth seeing. Prioritize The Old Town and it’s Main Square! See the Cloth-hall and Town Hall Tower. Explore the underground museum hidden right beneath the city. Want to hear more about the history of the city? Overwhelmed by the options and looking for some guidance? Our City Walking Tour will help you take the best route and not miss anything! Kazimierz District is a world-famous Jewish district. It has a lot of character to it! You will understand what we mean when you walk into it. It is very distinct visually. You will see a lot of synagogues, thematic museums, graveyards, old-style alleys, and signboards. The third iconic district of Krakow is Podgórze. Here, you will find the Plac Bohaterów Getta (Ghetto Heroes Square). This is the central hub of everything in Krakow Ghetto. Remember Schindler’s List? The Schindler’s Factory can be found here. Currently, it functions as a museum. Our Krakow Memorial Route Tour will take you to all of these places - and more. For something entirely different, but still iconic, we recommend Nowa Huta! You probably heard word “utopia” a lot. A lot of novels and movies talk about utopias, but rarely show them. Nowa Huta was an attempt at creating ideal communist utopia, funded and designed by Soviets. Their plan was to design a perfect city with every little detail contributing to the greater plan of ideal city that needs no God. Did they succeed? Find out by taking Nowa Huta Tour!

The simplest way is to take a walk. Krakow is actually pretty compact city, and with some smart planning, you won’t have to resort to using public transport or calling a taxi. A good route will allow you to see everything on foot. However, not everybody might enjoy that, and what is the point of walking if you don’t like it? There are many reasons why you might not want to do that, like weather deciding to go all rainy. In such cases, jump into the public transport! A ticket costs around 4zł - less than 1 EUR. Getting a ticket is pretty trivial, as there are many ticket machines spread over the city. Just be aware that some of them do not accept credit and debit cards. Carry some spare change in your pocket to be safe. If you want to avoid jumping through the hoops of public transport, and have more complicated plans such as a family dinner, a tour, or anything else that would benefit from simple and direct transport, call MrShuttle. We can pick you up anywhere within Kraków and take you to anywhere else. Perfect for finishing your long day and getting directly back to your hotel! Just give us heads up in advance.

No. Most of the museums in Krakow require you to pay for a ticket. However, there are some exceptions! Some are simply free, while others become free at specific times. The most popular and iconic time is the “Night of Museums”! This initiative celebrates the heritage of Kraków, and entry becomes entirely free! Why is it called “a night”? Well, because on that special day, they all are open far longer than normally - well into late night. Sounds cool? Next Night of Museums happens on 14 may of 2021, so make sure to not miss it! Also, make sure to pay attention to Krakow in November. Why? Because during November, you can visit Wawel’s Royal Castle for free. If the famous castle is your primary reason to visit Krakow, well, find some time in November!! Do note that while there are days during which museums are free, the opposite is also true. Do not be surprised when you find them closed on mondays. Monday is generally considered to be a break day for museums in Krakow.
