This private day trip takes you south to Zakopane, a town where distinctive wooden buildings, lively local markets, and the dramatic peaks of the Tatras create a very different atmosphere from the city.
Your journey combines several sides of the region: a scenic mountain viewpoint, a glimpse of traditional highland architecture, time to explore Zakopane independently, and a relaxing visit to Chochołów Thermal Baths.
Travelling in a vehicle reserved for your party means you can enjoy the journey together, without sharing your transport with other tour participants. There's also room to coordinate the pace of selected stops with your driver, making this a convenient option for couples, families, friends, and other private groups.

A Journey Through the Podhale Region
Leave the City Behind
Meet your driver at your accommodation in Krakow and settle into your private vehicle. As the urban landscape gives way to the countryside, the journey south introduces you to the changing scenery of Małopolska and the foothills of the Tatras.
The drive takes approximately 90 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. With transport arranged for your group, you can focus on the day ahead rather than coordinating connections or navigating unfamiliar roads.
Discover the Craftsmanship of Zakopane Style
Before reaching the heart of town, stop at Jaszczurówka Chapel. Its carved wooden details and characteristic architectural design reflect the artistic traditions associated with Zakopane and the surrounding highlands.
The chapel provides a quieter introduction to the region's heritage before you move on to the more energetic parts of the day.
See the Tatras from Above
Continue to Gubałówka Hill, where the funicular carries you to an elevated viewpoint overlooking Zakopane and the surrounding mountains.
From the top, take in the landscape, look for familiar Tatra peaks on the horizon, and capture photographs of one of the area's best-known panoramas. You'll have an opportunity to explore the summit area before taking the funicular back down.
Return tickets are included in the tour, so this mountain experience is already part of your day.
Make Time for Zakopane's Local Life
Zakopane has a character all its own, shaped by highland customs, regional cuisine, and a strong architectural identity. Spend some independent time around Krupówki, the town's central pedestrian thoroughfare, where restaurants, cafés, market stalls, and souvenir shops bring the streets to life.
It's a chance to explore according to your interests: browse local products, stop for a coffee, look for handmade souvenirs, or sample a regional speciality.
Two flavours worth discovering are:
- Oscypek: smoked sheep's milk cheese associated with the Podhale region, commonly served grilled with cranberry sauce.
- Traditional highland spirit: a local alcoholic speciality offered for adult guests.
Your private transport arrangement gives your group greater flexibility when coordinating time at selected stops. Any adjustments will depend on the day's schedule, journey times, and the planned attractions.
Finish the Day in Warm Thermal Waters
After time spent exploring the town and mountains, head to Chochołowskie Thermal Baths for a change of pace.
The complex features a variety of indoor and outdoor pools, with water temperatures typically ranging from approximately 30°C to 36°C. The outdoor areas offer views of the surrounding mountain landscape, while the indoor facilities provide an alternative in changeable weather.
Your admission includes 2.5 hours at the thermal baths, giving you time to swim, unwind in the warm water, and enjoy a slower part of the day.
Depending on the season, the experience can feel quite different. Summer brings green mountain surroundings, while winter visits may combine steaming pools with crisp air and snowy scenery.
Additional facilities, including the sauna area, may require a separate payment.
Return to Krakow
Once your spa visit is complete, meet your driver for the journey back to Krakow. The return time depends on traffic, departure arrangements, and the timing of the day's activities.
Your day ends where it began, with private transport back to your accommodation.
What Makes This Private Experience Different?
Travel Exclusively with Your Party
Your vehicle is reserved for your group rather than shared with unrelated travellers. This makes the journey a practical choice for people travelling together who prefer their own transport arrangements.
Balance Sightseeing with Downtime
The itinerary brings together mountain scenery, cultural landmarks, time in town, and a spa visit. Rather than spending the entire day on sightseeing alone, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy both the region's main attractions and a period of relaxation.
Enjoy Greater Flexibility Along the Way
Private transport makes it easier to coordinate selected stops around your group's interests and pace. You can discuss timing with your driver, subject to the planned itinerary, opening times, travel conditions, and the duration of included activities.
The experience follows a defined route, so flexibility does not mean that every stop or included activity can be changed without restrictions.
Experience More Than the Mountain Views
The Podhale region is known for its distinctive wooden architecture, traditional food, and cultural identity. Visiting the chapel and spending time in Zakopane offers a glimpse of this heritage alongside the area's natural scenery.
Combine a Mountain Day with a Spa Break
A trip to Zakopane offers plenty to see, but the thermal baths add a different dimension to the day. After exploring the area, you can spend time in warm pools before returning to Krakow.
When to Visit Zakopane
The region changes throughout the year, giving each season its own appeal.
- Winter: Enjoy a classic mountain atmosphere, snow-covered scenery when conditions allow, and warm outdoor pools.
- Spring: See the landscape transition from winter into greener mountain surroundings.
- Summer: Explore Zakopane during the warmer months, when outdoor walks and mountain viewpoints are particularly appealing.
- Autumn: Experience seasonal colours and cooler mountain air, with the thermal baths providing a relaxing end to the day.
Mountain weather can change quickly, and visibility at viewpoints varies with conditions. Whatever the season, bringing suitable clothing and comfortable footwear will help you enjoy the different parts of the itinerary.
Plan Your Private Day Trip from Krakow
If you'd like to explore beyond Krakow without organising transport between several attractions yourself, this private excursion offers a straightforward way to discover the Zakopane area.
Enjoy a mountain viewpoint, discover regional architecture and food, explore the town independently, and finish with time at Chochołowskie Thermal Baths — all with private transport for your party.
Choose the Zakopane & Chochołów Thermal Baths Private Tour for a day that combines regional discovery with time to relax.
