Already booked your flight to Krakow, Poland, and looking for ways to spend your time there? Book our Krakow City Walk tour and take in all the best sights of the city while learning about it from our helpful guide. This is one of the walking tours that you and your group simply cannot miss. MrShuttle offers you the ultimate introduction to Krakow and its long history. This walking tour will take you around the most important places in Krakow, including the Jewish Quarter and the Old Town, and give you some great insight into this old city.

Krakow with MrShuttle - let the tour begin!

The Old Town - go back in time

Our Krakow tour will start in the morning or early afternoon. The professional and certified local guide will collect you and your companions at your accommodation and from there you'll continue to the Old Town. Our tour will start at the city's main point of interest, Main Square. It dates back to 1257 and at 40,000 square meters, it is the largest medieval square in Europe. No wonder it is also the heart of the city and home to some spectacular buildings.

At the central location of the square is the Cloth Hall ("Sukiennice" in Polish) which was the main place of trade built in the 13th century. The first floor of the Cloth Hall is now a museum. Next on our list, will be one of the city's most famous landmarks - St. Mary's Basilica. This gothic church is home to an impressive altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss - a definite must-see. Make sure also to look up to its tallest tower as every hour a trumpeter goes there and plays St. Mary’s Trumpet Call. The Town Hall located at the other end of the square will be the last place to see. Its tower is the only part of the building that has survived since the 14th century.

Wawel Castle - check out where the kings lived

The second part of our tour will lead you to one of the most important places in the country's history and one of the first World Heritage Sites in the World. Situated on Wawel Hill and overlooking the Vistula River, the Wawel Castle used to be the residence of Polish kings. Today, it is a museum and a house to many artefacts and art, while the Wawel Cathedral is where the Polish kings were coronated and later buried. Our knowledgeable guide will tell you all there is to know about its history and significance. A fun place to stop by while in this area is the Dragon's Den, a cave that is the house of the Wawel Dragon. Get our guide to take you there and get to know the Polish legend of the dragon. In front of the cave's exit is a metal statue of the dragon which spits fire. Make sure to keep your camera ready!

The Jewish Quarter - experience the remaining Jewish culture

The last place on the tour's itinerary will be Kazimierz, the former Jewish district where a large Jewish community used to live from the mid-14th century until World War II. This quarter also served as the setting of Steven Spielberg's famous "Schindler's List". During the Krakow City Walk Tour you will learn about this quarter, its flourishing past, and then the painful history of Krakow's Jewish community during the time of Nazi occupation. Kazimierz is still home to several synagogues and the oldest Jewish cemetery in Poland. Although the Jewish community in Krakow is almost non-existent today and thus the quarter is not the same as it used to be, Szeroka street still manages to preserve some of that pre-war feel and is dotted with quaint shops and restaurants. The Jewish Quarter is also one of the most unique places in the city and a favorite among locals and tourists.
